Sunbeam, Colo., resident James Stanley Wernet, died April 25, 2003, at his daughter's home in Hotchkiss, Colo. He was 60.
Wernet was born March 29, 1943, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to James B. and Vera A. (Brown) Wernet. He spent his childhood in Denver and graduated from South High School in 1961.
He resided in Denver until 1976, when he moved to Steamboat Springs, Colo. He then moved to Craig in 1981 and remained there until moving to the Maybell/Sunbeam area in 1993.
Among his many interests, he most enjoyed cars, antiques and restoring automobiles.
Wernet is survived by his son, Travis Wernet, of Emeryville, Calif.; daughter, Lisa Wernet, of Hotchkiss; mother, Vera Myers, of Littleton, Colo.; brother, Jack (Donna) Wernet, of Grand Junction, Colo.; sister, Barbara (Lowell) Leigh, of Denver; former wife, Beverly Wernet, of Conifer, Colo.; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, James B. Wernet.
Services were May 2, 2003, in Maybell.
