When it comes to unique opportunities, Moffat County can certainly name several not the least of which are educational.
While institutions of higher education throughout the state are increasing tuition costs, Moffat County residents can take credit-bearing courses at Colorado Northwestern Community College with the assistance of local tax dollars. The benefit is applicable throughout the CNCC system so Moffat County residents can take classes in Meeker, Hayden, Rangely and south Routt County and still receive the tuition benefit.
The local mill levy has opened doors not only to students but to the college as well, providing dollars to start the new nursing program in Craig that will start next fall. Without this money, there would have been no new program.
We believe that in these rocky economic times, educational opportunities can serve as a buoy, providing skills and training that can keep people financially afloat.
We encourage the local CNCC board, which oversees how this money is spent, to continue investing in Moffat County residents.
