Youth group fund-raiser successful

To the Editor:

Pastor Dave Ross, a man of many specialties, one of which being barbecue, roasted corn May 26 to help with what we call "Cornfest." For the last five years we (the Soulcenter youth group) have participated in Grande Old West Days by selling corn on the cob to the hungry people of Craig.

This year, without a doubt, was the best year we've ever had. The Soulcenter would like to take this opportunity to extend our thanks and appreciation to the community for buying corn and supporting our youth group.

Our youth group is currently "under construction," which means we are in the process of raising money to convert our youth room into to a youth facility. Our dream is that the Soulcenter will be a place for the young people of Craig to go to be recognized as the incredible people they are, to hang out, have fun, get help if needed and be supported by a set of moral standards that will help them get through life. The money we raised from GOWD is going toward the remolding of our snack bar, the Soulshack.

Keep your eyes open this summer for the events we have planned to at the Soulcenter. These events include, but are not limited to, a skateboarding tournament to be held on June 21 and an S.O.K. concert on July 16. The Soulcenter meets at 6:15 p.m. every Wednesday night and all youth from seventh to 12th grades are welcome.

Again we'd like to say thank you for all the incredible support from our community.

Tysha Ross,

Representative of the Soulcenter
