A summer of opportunity

The communities of Moffat County have an incredible opportunity this summer to make a lasting impression on visitors from all over the state.

With an unprecedented four statewide conventions coming to Craig in June, this is our opportunity to put Moffat County on the map as a vacation destination.

Their vision could impact the local economy for years

to come.

The VFW convention, the firefighters convention and the sheriffs convention will give visitors a chance to become acquainted with Moffat County's hospitality. Participants of Triple Crown softball, Whittle da Wood Wandezvous and The Memorial Hospital Benefit Golf Tournament know and appreciate all of the benefits of small-town hospitality.

We want to congratulate the area residents, city and county officials who have worked so hard to pull these events off.

In a time of unstable economies, these events, as well as traditional events such as Dinosaur Bedrock Days and the Little Britches Rodeo, gives Moffat County a chance to diversify and let people from around the state know what wonderful vacation spots our communities can be.

Is it going to be a little stressful with all these people in town? Yes. Will we have to wait a little longer to get our favorite table at our favorite restaurant? Probably. But we should look at these inconveniences as the economic opportunities that they are.

By showing these visitors a great time in Moffat County, we have a chance to make a lasting impression on them so they'll come back year after year.
