Hayden resident Eva B. Brazelton died May 2, 2003, at The Memorial Hospital. She was 84.
Brazelton was born Jan. 21, 1919, in Ralston, Harper County, Okla., to Jesse and Irene (Calclasure) Barnacascel. She was raised in Oklahoma and later met and married James W. Brazelton on March 5, 1938, in Woodward, Okla. They then moved to Hayden where they lived since, with the exception of short periods when they lived in Richland, Wash., Jerome, Idaho and Orland, Calif.
Brazelton worked for many years as a cook for the Hayden School District and also for years as a janitor at Yampa Valley National Bank. At one time, she was a telephone operator in Hayden. She loved her flowers and her garden and enjoyed watching the humming birds and cooking. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Brazelton is survived by her sons James (Barbara) Brazelton, of Hayden, Jerry Brazelton, Michael (Karol) Brazelton, of Dallas, Texas and Dick (Donna) McClellan, of LaPorte, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Pauline Betschert, of Toppenish, Wash, Anna Stump, of Ephrata, Wash., Betty Little, of North Highland, Ore., and Pattie McDaniels, of Richland, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Sherm Gravelle; sisters Mary and Katie; brothers C.E. "Bud", Jesse Jr., and Richard; husband, James Walter Brazelton and a great-grandson, David Daniel Mitchell.
Services were May 12, 2003, at Hayden Congregational Church with Doug Zirkle officiating. The organist was Avis Funk with Sandy Legino as the soloist. Selections were some of Brazelton's favorite songs and pallbearers were all her many friends.
Services concluded at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hayden High School scholarship fund in care of Grant Mortuary.
