Bee Olsen of Craig died Feb. 6, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. She was 71.
Olsen was born July 12, 1931, in Winter, Wis., to Constant Petit and Gladys VanWinkle Petit.
She married Norman B. Olsen Jr. on Feb. 2, 1952, in Illinois, where they lived until 1972.
They had four children in their long and happy marriage, and had recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.
The Olsens moved to Steamboat Springs in 1972 and ran two hotels for several years.
When Olsen began working at the former Extended Care Center, she found her true vocation. She became a certified nurse aide and provided loving, professional care to the residents of the ECC and Doak Walker Care Center for more than 16 years.
The Olsens moved to Craig in 1995. She continued to work until 2001, and also enjoyed reading, walking, singing in the St. Michael's Church choir and spending time with her family.
Olsen is survived by her husband, Norm; son, Norman B. (Jami) Olsen III; grandchildren, Christopher and Daniel, of Champaign, Ill.; daughter, Nancy (Jan) Kaminski; grandchildren, Jamie and Kerry, of Steamboat Springs; son, Daniel Olsen, of San Diego, Calif.; and son, Louis (Denise) Olsen, and granddaughter Sarah, of San Diego.
