A Moffat County sex offender accused of violating probation in Kentucky could enter a plea Monday in District Court.
Grant Taylor, 35, is being held at the Moffat County Jail on $50,000 bond set by Judge Michael O'Hara earlier this week. Taylor was escorted back to Colorado by Moffat County Sheriff Buddy Grinstead and booked into the jail Saturday.
He was held without bond in the Montgomery County Jail in Mount Sterling, Ky., since his arrest Jan. 15 for an alleged violation of probation conditions.
Taylor in March 2001 was sentenced to 10 years to life probation after pleading guilty in Moffat County District Court to a charge of class-four felony sexual assault on a child.
Authorities allege he violated probation in January by attending a pancake breakfast at a Kentucky middle school without the permission of his probation officer.
The court had prohibited Taylor from visiting places "primarily used by children under the age of 18," according to court documents.
Probation officials also have alleged Taylor admitted to viewing child pornography, while violating court-ordered restrictions against use of commercial Internet.
Prior to starting probation ordered in March 2001, Taylor served a 27-month prison sentence for a conviction on federal charges of possession of child pornography.
He faces two years to life in state prison if found to have violated his Moffat County probation.
