Tickets are available for next month's annual Firemen's Ball as preparations continue for the Craig Rural Fire Protection District's main fund-raiser.
Most of the money raised from the March event will go toward a scholarship fund for Moffat County High School seniors, while also helping fire victims get back on their feet, said Steve Foster, firefighter and chairman of this year's event.
It's scheduled for the evening of March 8, beginning roughly at the end of this year's Kiwanis play at the Holiday Inn's Cassidy's Lounge. Country rock act "Black Timber" will perform.
"The money raised helps people affected by fires until their insurance kicks in," said Foster, adding help can take the form of short-term hotel room charges for families or individuals displaced by fire.
Tickets are $10 each available through any firefighter, or at the main offices of the fire department at 419 Yampa Avenue. Tickets will be limited to Cassidy's 300-person capacity, which in the past has produced lines of partygoers waiting to get in.
"We normally have a few people buying tickets as people leave the bar," Foster said.
Last year, nearly $2,800 was raised -- the most funds garnered by Craig department event.
