Be an art lover Saturday

This Saturday's artwork display promises to be much more than just art.

The event, which is scheduled to run from 5 to 9 p.m., will feature some 26 regional artists who will show off their talent and wares to locals and visitors alike.

But it is also a celebration of the community coming together.

Too often people can get caught up in the day-to-day rush and forget about the unique and wonderful place that they live and the people who make up that community.

The artwork, music and demonstrations will be spread out over some 16 businesses and will give area residents the chance to get reacquainted with Craig's downtown area and reacquainted with their neighbors.

The museum and the Center of Craig are considered the "hubs"

of the event.

Chili and hot chocolate will be sold at the Center of Craig to help keep patrons warm as they enjoy the Art Walk, which is celebrating its ninth year.

It is estimated that the event drew more than 300 visitors last

year.

This year's Walk will feature Brad Smith, the "glass-blowing cowboy," "Loose Threads, a local

women's group that spins and weaves, Craig painters Barbara Wilaby and Deana Messing, and the music of Craig guitarists Jim Simpson and Jim Vorhees and Yampa Valley Brass.

We hope the Art Walk can attract at least that number and hopefully more this year.

Too often we can find ourselves "too busy" for these kind of community gatherings.

But we believe this is an opportunity that should not

be squandered.
