Humane Society of Moffat County boasts success because of donations from local community

To the Editor:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the generous benefactors of the Humane Society of Moffat County for your efforts to assist the Society in one of its desired goals to reduce our unwanted pet overpopulation.

The Humane Society of Moffat County is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals by providing humane education and training, promoting a spay and neuter program through our local participating veterinarians, providing foster and respite care, offering community service and encouraging respect for the dignity of all animals.

Through our fund-raising efforts, public awareness and the dedication of our local veterinarians, we have been able to provide, at a reduced cost, spay and neuter services for dogs and cats to more than 19 needy area families thus far. This integral veterinary service has saved our community approximately 124 unwanted stray animals in one breeding year!

One of the Humane Society's fund-raising sources in use throughout the community consists of doghouse-shaped plexiglass donation boxes, located at area business establishments. Unfortunately, one of these donation boxes was inappropriately removed by an unknown person. This unauthorized removal of our donation box has been a considerable loss to the Humane Society. In one instant, we lost the funds that were generously donated to this box, the fund-raising ability of this box and the donation box!

If anyone should find a lost donation box, perhaps they could have it returned to us at any of our local veterinary hospitals.

In closing, we would like to reiterate our sincere appreciation to the generous benefactors of the Humane Society of Moffat County. The abundant support given to our local Humane Society, whether it is time, materials, or a donation, will assist all of our endeavors to curtail this community's unwanted pet overpopulation. These supportive endeavors will also benefit the city of Craig and Moffat County to be a better pet-friendly community.

Best regards,

Humane Society of Moffat County
