Recreation Center Committee members say they want as much community involvement in the planning process as possible and they are requesting applications from community members who want to serve on the committee.
The proposed 13-member committee would be made up of two representatives from the city, the county, the school district, Colorado Northwestern Community College-Craig and the Chamber of Commerce. At-large members from the community would fill the other three slots.
Anyone interested in becoming a member of the steering committee should call Pennie Bricker at 826-2029. Applications are due by June 18 and interested residents should plan to attend the June 19 committee meeting for interviews. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at Craig City Hall.
The committee met Wednesday night to finalize a request for proposals for preliminary architectural work, which will include comparing the cost and feasibility of remodeling the old Country General building versus constructing a new building on property CNCC purchased for future expansion.
City Manager Jim Ferree and Parks and Recreation Director Dave Pike will finalize the draft request and send it out early next week.
Proposals are due back by July 8.
