A change in the rotation led to a change in the chairmanship Monday at the Moffat County Commissioners meeting.
T. Wright Dickinson was appointed chairman after former Chair Marianna Raftopoulos stepped down. Les Hampton replaced Dickinson as Vice-Chairman.
The yearly rotation returned the chairmanship to Dickinson since his last turn two years ago.
According to Dickinson, the position of chairman is one of organizational and procedural responsibilities.
"A chairman will conduct the meetings, and sign the innumerable documents that pass by us. It's more of a penance than anything," he said. "There are some counties where it's actually a horse race to become chairman, and they conspire with one another to get the position.
But here it's simply rotational we have very little ceremony," he said. "It's my turn in the rotation."
The board also renewed their ex-officio duties for other community, regional and state boards, and organized the memberships of the boards that the county appoints members to.
Interviews of applicants will be held Jan. 29 and Feb. 11. for appointments to the Moffat County Tourism Association, The Memorial Hospital board, the Moffat County Land Use Board and the Moffat County Housing Authority Board.
Positions that received no applications or remain unfilled will be re-advertised.
