Ricky Don Curtis
Craig resident Ricky Don Curtis died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at his home. He was 37.
Curtis was born Dec. 28, 1963, in Payson, Utah, to Irwin and Leah (Snelson) Curtis. He was raised and attended school in Springville and Spanish Fork, Utah.
On Oct. 13, 1984, Curtis married Kim Torrence in Mapelton, Utah. They were later divorced.
Curtis has been a resident of Craig since 1989, and was most recently the manager of Simmons Rooms.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and camping.
Curtis is survived by his father and stepmother, Irwin and Bonnie Curtis of Hayden,; sisters, Charity and Wendy Curtis of Hayden; brothers, Ray of Hayden, Shawn (Cathy) of Craig, Tony of Craig and Shad (Mindy) of Craig; daughter, Kyley Curtis of Illinois; and son, Jeffrey Curtis of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Leah Dianne Curtis.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah.
Talmage Earl Willis Jr.
Craig resident Talmage Earl Willis Jr. died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002 at Valley View Manor. He was 71.
Willis was born on Aug. 18, 1930, in Chester, Penn., to Talmage Earl Sr. and Frances (Stinson) Willis. He was raised and attended military school in Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict.
Willis married Norma Been on Sept. 13, 1951, in Floyds Knobs, Ind. They lived in the Seattle, Wash., area for 30 years, where Willis worked for the school district on Mercer Island as a maintenance man.
Willis moved to Craig in June of 2001, to be near his son, Talmage III.
He enjoyed traveling and his family. He was a member of the Independent order of Foresters and a Apheresis Donor donating platelets for cancer patients.
Willis is survived by his wife, Norma Willis of Craig; daughter, Stephanie (David) Spindler of Ind.; sons, Talmage Earl (Robin) Willis III of Craig, John Been Willis of New York, Wayne (Sue) Willis of Green Bay, Wisc., and Keith (Milet) Willis of The Azores; 24 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Vivian.
At his request, no services were held.
Rawlins, Wyo., resident Ruthann Sanchez died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001 at memorial Hospital of Carbon County, following a sudden illness. She was 42.
Sanchez was born Jan. 4, 1959 in Walden, Colo., to Loranna (Roadi) and Donald Dean Hunter Sr. Donald died Oct. 11, 1998.
She married Sam Sanchez on March 25, 1987, in Elko, Nev. The couple managed a business in Creston Junction until moving to Rawlins in 1993. She was previously married to Lewis Thomas Wood.
Sanchez was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting many things for her family. She enjoyed visits from her two grandchildren, Shawn Thomas Jr. and Eli Wood.
Sanchez is survived by her husband, Sam; sons, Shawn Thomas Wood and Tracy Gene of Rawlins; brothers, Loren Thomas (Skip) Hunter of Grand Junction, Colo., Donald Dean Hunter of Louisiana, and William Dale Hunter of Rawlins; and her mother, Loranna Hunter of Rawlins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald and grandparents, Thomas Monroe Sr. and Ruth Elleen Hunter and Loren and Anna Smith.
A rosary was at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at the Grant Mortuary Chapel led by Emma Mascarenas. Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at the Craig Cemetery with Beryl Wright officiating.
Pallbearers were Joseph Archuleta, Chris Love, Johnny Martinez, Carlos Rivera, Danny Fuller and Jeremy Sanchez.
