Samantha Johnston has been named general manager of the Craig Daily Press. Johnston was previously advertising manager for the Daily Press, and has been with the paper since September 2000.
Johnston, 26, is a native of Northwest Colorado and graduated from Colorado State University in 1999 with a bachelors degree of journalism.
Johnston began her career with WorldWest Limited Liability Company, parent company of the Daily Press, when she joined the staff of the Steamboat Pilot & Today in May 1999.
As general manager, Johnston will oversee the day-to-day operations of the editorial, advertising, circulation and bookkeeping departments of the Daily Press.
"I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to assume this position, in which I can make a great contribution to Craig and Moffat County," Johnston said. "I am incredibly committed to this community, and it is my goal for our news product to reflect that commitment."
Publisher Bryna Larsen has assumed additional responsibilities as regional advertising director for the Daily Press, Steamboat Pilot & Today and Hayden Valley Press.
"I have the utmost confidence in Samantha's ability to lead the staff in providing a quality daily newspaper to Moffat County residents, and to help our advertisers continue to prosper," said Larsen. "Samantha has been a big contributor to the Craig community as a volunteer and I know she is excited about continuing her involvement with the community in her new position."
