Ewell Lee Talley of Las Vegas, Nev., died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, in Las Vegas. He was 89.
Talley was born on April 4, 1912, in Dover, Ark., to Charles G. and Ada (Stutts) Talley. He was raised and attended school in Arkansas. The family moved to California and Talley joined the Navy and served during WWII as a cook.
Talley married Victoria Jensen on Dec. 23, 1946, in Elhambra, Calif. They moved to Baggs, Wyo., in 1959, and Talley ran the Bank Club Bar until he retired in 1972. During his years in Baggs, Talley also built fence and worked as a fur trapper. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Odd Fellows Lodge.
Talley is survived by his daughters, Tory (Ivan) Castellano of Henderson, Nev., Maureen (Dale) Johnson of Garden Grove, Calif., and Karen (Sanford) Robinson of Baggs, Wyo.; sister, Margreta Gilruth of California; his caregiver for the past two years, Michelle Esteban of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James; and wife, Victoria, who died in 1986.
Services were Monday, Feb. 4, 2002 at the Little Snake River School in Baggs, Wyo., with Paul Prestrud officiating. Pianist was Debbie Myers with soloist, Rae Lynne Prestrud. The selection was "In the Garden."
Pallbearers were Dick Jeannerett, Dewayne Romero, Ludwig Centa, Ray Weber, Pete Corson and Steve Adams Jr. Honorary Pallbearers were Don Corson, Lee Jons, Albert Woods, Ike Herold, Roy Jons and George Salisbury.
Interment was at the Baggs Cemetery.
