City Council to review property transactions

A discussion of two pending property sales will be the focus of an executive session Tuesday night at the Craig City Council meeting.

The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers of Craig City Hall.

The city is moving closer to selling the Cosgriff property, acquired in a tax lien to recoup the $115,000 the city spent to demolish the asbestos-filled building.

The city owns ten 25-foot by 125-foot lots along Victory Way between Russell and Tucker streets.

The property is listed for sale at $225,000 and it has not been disclosed who has offered to purchase the property or for what amount.

The second item the council will discuss is the acquisition of four lots on Stout Street to make Industrial Avenue a through street. The council considered a resolution effecting its right to acquire the property by eminent domain at its last meeting, but that resolution was shot down after the council urged City Attorney Sherman Romney to pursue negotiations with property owner Sandra Baird before submitting a resolution.

The property has been appraised, giving the city a starting point for negotiations, but Baird has not

heard at what amount it has been appraised.

She said she doesn't think it will be enough to entice her to sell the four lots, which include a home she had planned to remodel.

The council will receive legal advice concerning both transactions following Tuesday's meeting.

In other business, the council will:

Consider renewing a hotel and restaurant liquor license for the Golden Cavvy.

Consider approving a special events permit for the VFW for May 24-26 at the Moffat County Fairgrounds

Consider a request from Jim and Kathy Kunc for an off-street parking and landscape plan for an apartment complex.

Set a public hearing for 7:30 p.m. May 28 to consider a replat of Lots 1 through 5 and Lots 44 through 48 and the vacated alley in Block 34.

Hold a public hearing to consider approval of a preliminary plat for a minor subdivision to be known as the First Christian Church minor subdivision at 960 W. Victory Way.

Hold a public hearing to consider approval of a conditional use permit to add a two-story garage at 860 Yampa Ave.

Consider approving a variance of a rear yard setback for a garage at the same location.

Award a bid for First Street water line project pipe materials.

Hear a request to waive the bid requirements for the purchase if irrigation parts and supplies for the Parks and Recreation Department.

Consider approving a contract for design and engineer services for the Ridgeview Trail project for the Parks and Recreation Department.

Hear a request to use an informal bid process to purchase water plant process analytical equipment.
