Craig resident Goldie Sherman died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Valley View Manor. She was 89.
Sherman was born on Oct. 23, 1912, in Berwyn, Neb., top Benjamin and Bessie (Meeker) Knouse. She was raised and attended school in Broken Bow.
In 1944, she married Harry Sherman in Greeley, Colo. She was an army wife and lived in many places in her life, including California, Illinois, Greeley and Walden, Colo., as well as Hanna and Laramie, Wyo., prior to moving to Craig in 1983.
Sherman worked for many years as a waitress and was very proud of the time she spent at the Paris Cafe in Laramie. She enjoyed reading, watching soap operas, playing bingo, dancing and singing. She also enjoyed a good joke and visiting with her friends. Most of all, she loved being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sherman is survived by her daughter, Donna "Kay" Dodson of Spearfish, S.D.; grandchildren, Becky Hertzog, Marcy Cooley, Lisa Fluty, Brad, Craig and Kevin Ploszaj and Robin Harnden; great-grandchildren, Robyn Hertzog Kitchen, Rachel and Evan Hertzog, Chad and Angie Cooley, Wyatt and Jacob Fluty, Sophia, Sarah, Priscilla, Kacie and Ashley Ploszaj and Indeenah Harnden; son-in-law, Bud Milliken of Hanna, Wyo.; and niece, Carol Duesterhoeft Mitchell. she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ted and Robert; sister, Violet Mae Christ; husband, Harry; daughter, Morna Milliken; son, Donald Dodson and grandson, Stanley Milliken.
Services were April 3, 200, at Grand Mortuary Chapel with Beryl Wright officiating. Selections were "Old Rugged Cross" and Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime."
Honorary pallbearers were Wes Hertzog, Evan Hertzog, Brad Ploszaj, Craig Ploszaj, Robin Harnden, Chad Cooley, Scott Kitchen, Josh Lowe, Wyatt Fluty, Jacob Fluty and Kevin Ploszaj.
Services concluded at the mortuary.
