Brad Alan Skufca
Brad Alan Skufca of Craig died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C. He was 34.
Skufca was born on May 30, 1967, in Glenwood Springs to Joe and Ruth (Hall) Skufca. He was raised and attended school in Craig, graduating from Moffat County High School in 1985. Brad attended trade school for a short time and then joined the US Air Force where he served for four years.
Skufca married Helen Lavato on May 21, 1987, in Craig.
He enjoyed football, baseball, basketball and playing pool. He was an avid Avalanche fan and an ardent supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Skufca was employed by Birdair of Amherst, New York as an ironworker at the time of his death.
He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Skufca of Denver; parents, Joe and Ruth Skufca of Craig; sisters, Teresa (Brian) Smith of Craig and Lisa Foster of Littleton; brother, Steve Skufca of Craig; niece and nephew Nicole and Erik Monger of Aurora; fiancee Wendy Baldwin of Forrest Grove, Ore., and their child, Jessica, who is to be born within the next month.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alice and Tony Skufca and Bess and Curtis Hall.
Services were held on Friday, April 5, 2002, at St. Michael Church in Craig. Interment followed at the Craig Cemetery and a graveside service was performed by VFW Post #4265.
Pallbearers were Eric Dixon, Todd Simon, Moises Arellano, Shawn Turner, John McLaurin and Ricky Arellano. Honorary pallbearers were Erik Monger, Brian Smith, John Foster, Todd Baldwin, Jerry Monger Steve Skufca, Max Lavato, John Skufca and Tony Skufca.
