Amos F. Humphrey

1926-2002

Amos F. Humphrey of died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at The Memorial Hospital in Craig. He was 75.

Amos was born on December 26, 1926, in Del Rio, Texas, to Amos and Dessie Humphrey, Sr. He was raised and attended school in Del Rio. Following graduation from high school, Amos attended Texas A&M at College Station, Texas where he earned a degree in civil engineering.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Arlouine Cummings on Septe. 3, 1946, in Del Rio. Amos worked as an oil jobber for many years and also operated his own ranch. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Del Rio, and the 5th Man Association at Texas A&M.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ranching and playing poker.

Amos was preceded in death by his parents and son Amos F. Humphrey III.

He is survived by his wife Arlouine Humphrey of Craig; dauther Diane (Joe) Jimenez of San Antonio, Texas; son Scott (Purina) Humphrey of Ft. Stockton, Texas; grandchildren April, Crystal and Scott Humphrey, Jr., Bruce (Stacy) Pepper and Pam (Luis) Bouray and great-granddaughter Ashley Marie Pepper.

Services were held Thursday, April 18, 2002, at 3 p.m. at the Grant Mortuary Chapel. Interment followed at the Craig Cemetary.

Fr. Roger Lascelle officiated and Anne Carr was the organist.

Pallbearers were Kelvin Stehle, Kim Stehle, Bill Leonard, Danny Stehle, Brian Smith and Rowdy Doehling.

Honorary pallbearers were Clyde Stehle, Ray Witten, Bob Likens and Amos Ford Humphrey III.

Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in care of Grant Mortuary.
