A year ago in August Jake Satterwhite was killed in a car accident in Pueblo.

This Sunday he will be remembered at the park where he shined.

One of the Woodbury Park's baseball fields is being renamed "Jake's Field," in honor of the standout Little League player. A dedication of the field will be at 7:15 p.m. Sunday.

"We wanted to do it sooner but winter came along and we didn't get a chance," Satterwhite's former Little League coach and Moffat County Sheriff Buddy Grinstead said.

Satterwhite was killed Aug. 23 in Pueblo when a vehicle collided with the car in which Satterwhite was travelling, which had been stopped behind a stalled diver.

The impact pushed Satterwhite's car forward 46.5 feet and all the passengers in the vehicle suffered injuries, though Satterwhite was the only fatality.

Satterwhite was a standout athlete in his burgeoning sports career. He was a basketball player and a Little League baseball player, who excelled at pitching.

The informal field dedication is meant to preserve the young athlete's memory for years to come, Grinstead said.

"It was just a way for us to remember Jake," he said.

"Not just those who played baseball with him but

everybody."
