Former Craig resident Dolores "Dolly" Weston died April 3, 2002, surrounded by her family in Aurora, Colo. She was 65.
A native of Pueblo, Colo., Dolly's life is exemplified by her years of church and community service, by her constant love, generosity and kindness to family, friends as well as strangers, and as a loving wife and wonderful mother of five children.
Weston graduated from Central High School in 1955 and was involved in Pueblo Symphony Guild, St. Mary-Corwin Hospital Auxiliary, and KTSC Public Education Television auctions.
She was selected by the Craig Colorado Daily Press as the 1986 Woman of the Year, and in 1991, was named the Salvation Army Volunteer of the Year in Susanville, Calif.
In Craig during the mid-80s, Weston served as the president of Arts and Humanities in Craig, was on the board of directors for the Boom Town Players and was on the board of directors Chamber of Commerce.
Weston loved to welcome people to her home and entertain. She was an avid Broncos and Avalanche fan.
She, with her joyous spirit and grace, will be greatly missed.
Weston was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Rose Arellano.
She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Frank Weston; her sister, Theresa Carbajal; her children, Francine of Montreal, Kathleen of Highlands Ranch, Maureen of Malibu, Joseph of Craig, Christine of Seattle; and her grandchildren, Jesse, Jamie, Julia, Phillip and Cedric.
Services were Monday, April 8, 2002, at Fort Logan National Cemetery. There was a viewing on Sunday, April 7, 2002, and rosary and funeral Mass on April 7, both at Horan & McConaty Mortuary, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, Colo.
