Community credited with addition of hospital chapel

To the Editor:
On behalf of The Memorial Hospital I would like to thank everyone who devoted their time, energy and efforts to make sure we have a chapel and quiet room for patients, family and friends to utilize while in the hospital.
First, I would like to thank the Nottingham families. Their generous contributions throughout the years have helped TMH accomplish things that wouldn't have been possible otherwise. It was through their contributions that the Nottingham Chapel is now in existence. The chapel was created in loving memory of Willis and Willie Nottingham.
Next, I would like to thank the chapel committee for donating time and efforts to creating a peaceful place. Thank you to Kelly Nottingham, Gay Albers, Betsy Bair, Marilyn Bouldin, Rod Compton, Merna Dildine, Verda Lichtenhaun, Randy Phelps and Beth Purdum. Your input was greatly appreciated and the chapel turned out wonderfully.
The artists involved in this process were fantastic. A special thank you goes to Stephanie Eames who spent hours on the focal piece at the front of the chapel. "The River of Hope" turned out beautifully and I know others will enjoy it for years to come.
I also appreciate all the extra time you donated to help get ready for the grand opening. I couldn't have done it without you.
I would also like to thank Barbara Willaby for the "summer" piece, Clyde Tacy for the "fall" piece, Nancy Ratzlaff for the "winter" piece, Mary Pat Ettinger for the "spring" piece and Jean Jones for the beautiful pottery.
This really created a quiet and comfortable atmosphere for people, too.
A special thank you to the First Congregational Church mission committee for the generous contribution. It was very much appreciated.
I would also like to thank Kester Jewelry for donating the name plates on the door and the artwork.
Beth Purdum did a great prayer and dedication for the chapel and the Sweet Adelines' performance was, as always, amazing.
I would also like to thank the hospital's auxiliary group, plant operations staff, environmental services, Dale Bergstrom, Katie Puhl, Alice Rigney, Betsy Bair, Michael Maneotis and Jay Peck. Your time and donations were greatly appreciated.
I invite the community to come in and look at the chapel. It is located by the emergency room waiting area. While you are here, notice that we have upgraded the waiting room in the ER with paint, furniture (one its way), pictures and a television.
We are continually working to provide you with the best health care, along with the atmosphere of being in your own home.
We know you will find it a great addition to your hospital.
Thank you,
Pam Thompson,
The Memorial Hospital
