Alvin Carl Ridings
Craig resident Alvin Carl Ridings died March 21, 2002, at The Memorial Hospital in Craig. He was 84.
Ridings was born on July 2, 1917, to Addison Cliff and Lila (Shear) Ridings. On May 15, 1939, he married Alice M. Laub in Craig. She died on Feb. 4, 1995.
Ridings graduated from high school in Walden, Colo., and attended Mesa Junior College. He was a resident of Craig for 19 years, moving here from Jackson County.
He was a member of the Rand Rifle Club, North Park Stockgrowers and was the field representative for Production Credit Association for 23 years, working in North Park, Middle Park and parts of Summit County.
He was also a rancher and enjoyed cattle, horses and shooting.
Ridings is survived by his son, William G. "Bill" (Vearlene) Ridings of Walden; sister, Mary Baird of Meeker, Colo.; and grandchildren, Carla Black, Shad Ridings and Shane Ridings.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice; brothers, Gordon, Bob and Joe and a sister, Hazel Baker.
Funeral services were March 26, 2000, at Grant Mortuary Chapel with Beryl Wright officiating. The organist was Anne Carr with Wanda Brown as the soloist. Selections were "Bringing in the Sheaves" and "In the Garden."
Honorary pallbearers were all his many friends.
