Stanley Elbert Shelton
Craig resident Stanley Elbert Shelton died Friday, March 1, 2002, at his home. He was 70.
Shelton was born Nov. 20, 1913, in Denver to James B and Vivian M. (Chamberlin) Shelton. He was raised in Craig. He served in the U.S. Army from April until November of 1952. He married and later divorced Ramona Knez. On April 7, 1985, he married Paula Ladhoff in Lakewood, Colo.
Shelton worked as a contractor and also operated heavy equipment. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed woodworking and playing golf.
Shelton is survived by his wife, Paula, of Aurora, Colo.; daughters, Sue (Paul) Forbes of Golden, Colo., and Cheri (Clay) Hunsberger of Jacksonville, Fla.; step-daughters, Sheri (Tony) Spivey of Iowa, Kristi (Charley) Dischler of Denver, Jodie (Tim) Gahnal of Arizona, Marie (Steve) Marchi of California and Leslie (Rodney) Steggs of Denver; sister, Treva Miller of Denver; brothers, Jerry and Robert Shelton of Craig; 17 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shelton was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Maxine and Dorothy and brothers, Jim and Ernest.
