Craig resident attacked with crowbar

A Craig resident was attacked in his home on Sunday morning, and was beaten with a crowbar. The man was conscious when Craig police officers arrived, and was able to describe his assailants, leading to their arrest.
At 12:37 a.m. Sunday, Craig Police responded to a report of assault at 875 Lincoln St., where they discovered Jeff Radke, 37, with head injuries. He had suffered contusions and a laceration on the back of his head.
Radke reported that he had been attacked with a crowbar, and was able to give detailed descriptions of his assailants. Radke was taken to The Memorial Hospital.
Wade Franklin Kancilia, 22, of Craig and a juvenile were arrested at the Holiday Inn of Craig soon after the report was taken. Kancilia and the juvenile are being charged with second degree assault, a class IV felony, and conspiracy to commit second degree assault, a class V felony.
Class IV felonies carry a possible sentence of two to eight years and a $2,000 to $500,000 fine; class V felonies carry a possible sentence of one to four years and a $1,000 to $100,000 fine.
Kancilia is being held at the Moffat County Public Safety Center. His bond has not been set. The juvenile has been turned over to the Craig Crisis Intervention Team until the first hearing.
