At approximately midnight on Saturday, the Craig Police Department received a phone call reporting glass being broken near Craig Middle School.
According to Lieutenant John Forgay of the Craig Police Department, the officer responding to the call observed at least two suspects running from the area.
The officer was unable to apprehend the suspects, and no arrests have been made.
"There were numerous broken windows, all the trophy cases were smashed and there was damage to the teachers' lounge," Forgay said. "This is just more senseless vandalism that creates problems for the students and teachers who want to learn and to teach.
"This will be vigorously investigated."
The cost of the damage was not known.
Detectives were gathering information from witnesses as part of the investigation, Forgay said.
The vandalism incident will be featured as this week's Crime of the Week, in conjunction with the Craig Crime Stoppers program.
