The Moffat County Sheriff's Department announced the names of this year's scholarship recipients. Shannon Bird and Amanda Overton both received $1,000 scholarships and Rebecca Chadwick received a $500 scholarship from the Sheriff's Office, along with a $500 scholarship from County Sheriff's of Colorado.
A committee made up of community members made the selections from approximately 20 different applicants.
"This entire process for the Sheriff's Department scholarships is a great program for our community,"
Sheriff Buddy Grinstead said. "From the golf tournament and archery tournament, to the citizen committee that selects the recipients, it's just a great program."
The Sheriff's Department golf tournament is scheduled for June 3 and the archery 3-d shoot is scheduled for June 16.
