To the Editor;
The Craig Youth Hockey Association would personally like to thank all the coaches involved in the hockey programs. They have dedicated their time and talents for the benefit of our children and the hockey league. The season started on Nov. 6 for the competitive league and lasted through the middle of March. Night league began in January and lasted until March.
At the competitive squirt level the coaches are Walker Criswell and Jerry Strahan, with help from Mike Armstrong and Nick Raschke. They had a full roster of players and the improvement of the players was evident. Thank you for your time and effort!
At the competitive peewee and bantam levels the head coach was Jim Wood. Ben Hegwer helped Jim with the pewees and Jay Oxley and Paul Cook helped at the bantam level. Jim has coached two of our competitive teams for many years. He has been very involved with the local Hockey Association as well as the Rocky Mountain Youth League, of which he is president. Jim has dedicated long hours to our hockey kids. His peewee team placed third in the league and bantams placed second. Jim and his family are moving to Ohio this summer and they will be greatly missed at all levels of involvement in hockey and the community. Thanks Jim and Georgia!
At the competitive midget level, (high school), the coach is Josh Magnuson. Josh has been involved with these boys for several years and has spent many hours dedicated to the game he loves. At the end of the season his team worked together and took first place in the Rocky Mountain Youth Hockey League. Congratulations and thanks Josh for all you've done!
At night league levels we had 36 players. Jeff Whilden coached the 9 to 12-year-olds with help from Rick Behringer. Mark Samuelson coached the 5 to 8-year-olds with help from Ty Schaffer and Steve Ivers. They did some new things this year for the night league such as playing out-of-town teams.
Thank you for all your time and hard work!
From the Craig Youth Hockey Association, Thanks to all the many volunteers who have made our league the best it can be.
