Wyoming man charged with felony theft in Routt County


On Wednesday, Harold Lloyd Hansen Jr. appeared in Routt County Court one day after he was arrested on a warrant. Routt County Judge James Garrecht set bail for Hansen at $5,000.

Hansen has been charged with a class four felony for allegedly stealing the money from an office at the Ptarmigan Inn, 2304 Apres Ski Way.

According to court records, Hansen allegedly stole the money from an office the morning of Feb. 19. At the time the alleged theft occurred, Hansen was visiting a friend who works at the hotel, court records show. Steamboat Springs Police investigated the theft and secured an arrest warrant for the former Steamboat Springs man, who had since moved to Cheyenne, on April 6.

Hansen was booked into the Routt County Jail Tuesday. His next court appearance is set for 1 p.m. May 9. If convicted of the felony theft charge, Hansen could be sentenced to two to six years in prison and fined as much as $500,000. (Gary E. Salazar is a reporter for the Steamboat Springs Pilot/Today.)
