Northwest Health Specialists Center in Craig will be installing a new MRI machine on March 20, and plans to begin taking appointments for the high-tech X-ray machine by April 9.
The center has built a 600 square-foot addition to its existing office building to house the machine and Pam Young, Northwest Health Specialists Center manager, said that the project has gone smoothly.
"Behrman Construction out of Maybell has done a great job on the construction and we're on schedule. We're really excited about this project and this machine," she said. "It's phenomenal what this equipment can do. I really believe it's going to be an asset to the community and a great service to the medical staff."
Young said that the center's X-ray technicians, Julie Gerber and Kristy King, spent last week in Milwaukee, Wis., in a training program to educate them on the operation of the MRI machine.
"These are intensive studies on the machine," Young said. "Kristy will also attend the Radiology Imaging Association's advanced training for the MRI. We've had a lot of people calling and wanting to schedule appointments and we'll probably start booking appointments once the magnet is on site."
For more information, contact Pam Young at 824-1900 or visit the center at 651 Yampa Ave.

Did the Moffat County School Board make the right decision in replacing MCHS athletic director Rick Penner, who had been considered missing after not being heard from for about a week?
