Pete L. “Jimmy” Donne

1915-2000

Pete J. Le Donne “Jimmy” died Dec. 18, 2000 at his home. He was 85.



On Feb. 20, 1915, in Grand Junction, he was born the son of James V. and Matilda Le Donne. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Throughout the course of his life, he was involved in numerous business endeavors. These included bowling lanes, a sporting goods store and music store and working in the coal and uranium mining business. He promoted many sporting activities in the Rifle area including helping to build and run a rope tow ski lift at the base of Rio Blanco Hill in the early 50’s. He also officiated baseball, basketball and football. His most recent endeavor was the promotion and involvement with the building of the Rifle Creek Golf Course. He and his wife operated the pro shop and snack bar since its inception in 1959. He also worked as the course superintendent.

He was a 50 year member of the Massonic Lodge. He was one of the original founders of the Elks Lodge in Rifle.



He is survived by his wife, Sherrill Le Donne of Rifle, son, Steve (Pam) Le Donne of Rifle; daughter, Sharon Manupella and fiance, Riley McClung of Rifle; sister, Mary Ann Goodwin of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandson, James of Rifle; granddaughter, Teresa (Scott) Hall; great grandchildren, Mark, Caleb, Lexie and Tanner of Palisade; step-granddaughters, Stephanie Jones of Parachute and Heather McGowen of Grand Junction and great great grandchildren, Nicholas, Ashley and Spencer and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held at the Rifle Funeral Home Dec. 21, 2000. Masonic graveside services were held at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Rifle Dec. 22, 2000. A later memorial service will be held at the Rifle Creek Golf course during the summer of 2001 for the scattering of ashes. Notification of time will be in the local newspapers prior to services.

Peggy Agusta Trucke

1929-2000

Peggy A. Trucke, formerly of Craig and Steamboat Springs, died Dec. 2, 2000, in Langview, Wash. she was 71.

On July 31, 1929, in Gearhart, Ore., she was born the daughter of Arthur and Elsa Anderson. She grew up in the Gearhart and Seaside Wash., area graduating from Seaside High School.

In 1946, she married Robert Bertsch whom she later divorced.

On June 30, 1956, in Seaside, she married Leo W. Trucke. They moved to Craig in 1962. She worked for Miles Market for some years and as a homemaker. After some years they moved to Steamboat Springs where she worked for the local bank and Sinclair Station as a bookkeeper until 1988 when they moved to Langview. She worked caring for the elderly up until shortly before her death.

She was a member of the Gold Wing Road Rider Association, Yampa Valley Auto Racing Association and Snow Mobiling Club.

Trucke is survived by her husband, Leo; daughter, Marg (Jim) Kourlis of Craig, step-daughter, Diane Lessard of Jasper, Minn; stepsons, Leo Jr. (Shirley) Trucke of Langview and Richard (Lorie) Trucke of Gearhart; sister, Margaret Breyman of Monmouth, Oreg., mother-in-law, Mabel Trucke of Seaside; grandchildren, Deena (Ralph) Terango and Autumn and Austor Terango of Rawlins, Wyo., step-grandchildren, Sheena, Lisa, Kim, Troy and Richie, also nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, son, step-son, and grandson, Charles “Marty” Counts.

Memorial services were held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Seaside with Pastor Dave Branett officiating.
