INS officers find drug stash


The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and the Bureau of the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) in cooperation with the Routt County Sheriffs Office (RCSO), contacted Peter Schellenberger Saturday during a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 40 east of Steamboat Springs. Schellenberger is a citizen of Australia.

Schellenberger is being detained on suspicion of weapons violations and being in the United States illegally.

After the the traffic stop, a search warrant was executed at Schellenberger Steamboat Springs.

The search warrant resulted in the seizure of multiple weapons, approximately 1/2 pound of suspected cocaine and assorted drug paraphernalia. Paul and Carzel Fourtner, who also reside at the residence, were arrested on drug charges.

The warrant was executed by several agencies, including the Grand, Routt and Moffat Narcotics Enforcement Team (GRAMNET).
