The Moffat County Board of County Commissioners and the Community Foundation of Northwest Colorado, formerly the Museum Foundation, will work out their dispute over money and organization during the commissioner's meeting Monday. The two agencies will meet at 2 p.m. at the Moffat County Courthouse.
The Foundation's entire board will attend the meeting, and the first order of business will be introducing the newly-elected members, said Donna Shue, executive director of the Foundation. The second item on the Foundation's agenda is to present the Commissioners with this year's payment for the Museum of Northwest Colorado's cowboy and gunfighter Collection. Then Lynn Villard of Hamilton and Villard, LLC, and a newly-elected Foundation board member, will represent the Foundation in the discussion concerning the dispute over fund-raising, accounting practices, monetary issues and the Foundation's direction and mission.
"What we're hoping to get out of the discussion is direct, specific information on what the Commissioners' concerns are so that we can address them," Shue said. "I think most of the dispute is based on misunderstanding and miscommunication between the two entities. Once those issues are cleared up, the relationship should not continue in the direction it has lately."
Shue doesn't know whether the issues can be completely resolved at the meeting or if additional meetings will be necessary.
"Once we know exactly where the Commissioners are, I don't know if we'll have enough time to address everything that day, or if we'll need another meeting to cover everything," she said. "I'm hopeful and optimistic we'll resolve the issues soon and be able to move forward together."
The meeting will also be attended by County Attorney Kathleen Taylor.
The Board of County Commissioners meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Moffat County Courthouse.
The board will also:
Review the Hotel and Restaurant license of the River Ridge Prime Rib and Lobster House.
Review the final draft of a generic oil and gas lease.
Hold a discussion on whether to hire a health physicist to examine the Indoor Arena.
Accept a check from the Colorado State Patrol for its portion of the Moffat County Public Safety Center.
