The Yampa Valley Chapter of Sweet Adelines International competed March 23-24 in Colorado Springs at the Pikes Peak Center for Performing Arts.
The contest is held annually and participants are judged in four categories: Music, sound, showmanship, and expression.
At the contest, the Yampa Valley Chapter won third place small chorus based on the points scored in the four categories. They were awarded ribbons and a traveling plaque with their chorus name and date engraved on it. In addition to winning third place small chorus, the Craig group won the Showmanship Award. This award is given for the chorus that improves their showmanship scores by the most points from the previous year. The award is named for Mavis Burtness, an international judge in the showmanship category and a 50-year member of Sweet Adelines. She is a member of Region 8's Skyline Chorus in Denver.
