MEEKER, Colo. (AP) High winds prevented a helicopter from dropping water on a 110-acre wildfire as it continued to burn Sunday afternoon near town.

The fire was 100 percent contained Sunday and did not appear to be spreading, according to the Boise, Idaho,-based National Interagency Fire Center's Web site.

The fire was sparked by lightning on Wednesday and burned to within a quarter mile of houses.

Officials said the fire, the first of the season, was a warning that conditions changed recently from moist and rainy to dry and windy.
