Emma Glasgow Ence died May 26, 2001, at The Memorial Hospital in Craig. She was 85.
Ence was born March 13, 1916, in Truman, Ark., to Frank and Pearl Glasgow. Her family homesteaded on the Little Snake River near Baggs, Wyo., when she was 2. She went to school in Baggs and married Ovi J. Ence Aug. 21, 1934, in Provo, Utah.
The Ence's made their home mostly in the Craig area where she was a homemaker. She worked all kinds of jobs on their ranch. She raised five children of her own, plus two of her sister's children.
Ence was a generous, loving caregiver and many relatives and friends often lived in their home for extended periods of time. In 1979, in their retirement years, they moved to Vernal where they lived for 20 years before moving back to Craig in 1999.
Ence worked as a secretary and at the Moffat County Clerk and Recorder's Office. She belonged to the Business and Professional Women and was active in her church.
She is survived by her brother, William (Maxine) Glasgow of Baggs; four children, George (Peggy) Ence of Vernal, Oveta (Roy) Harris of Craig, Bill (Fung) Boyle of Ft. Worth, Texas, Joe (Myrna) Ence of Craig; 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three siblings; three daughters, Donna Cattoor, Emma Lynn Solosth, and Lucille Foreman; son-in-law, Marvin Cattoor; and two grandsons, Robbie Solosth and Jimmy Lee Boyle.
