Now that the snow is finally here, Steamboat Ski Area is offering deals for Valleywide residents and beginning skiers and boarders who want to hit the slopes.
Learn to Ski weekend will take place Dec. 8 and 9th at the Steamboat Ski and Snowboard School.
For $21, beginning skiers or snowboarders can receive a two-hour lesson, a lower-mountain lift ticket and rental equipment.
Classes for alpine skiing are at either 9 or 11:30 a.m., while snowboarding classes are at 9 or 12 a.m.
Kathy Ryan, who works in the ski school office, said the classes are for people who have never put on a pair of skis or a snowboard.
"It's a very beginning course," she said. "It's just something we offer to get people to try something new at a nice price."
If people catch on to either skiing or snowboarding during the weekend, a Locals' Ski week is being offered the following week, from Dec. 10 through the 14th.
Craig residents are eligible for the local deals, Ryan said.
An afternoon lift ticket is $170 and is good for the entire week. For season-pass holders, the cost will be $85.
This price includes a daily 1 1/2-hour lesson.
Locals' Ski Weeks will also be offered Jan. 7 -11, Feb. 4 - 8, and March 4 - 8.
