Craig student earns rank of Eagle Scout

Tim Bailey was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at an Eagle Court of Honor held by Troop 166 on March 3.

Bailey began his Scouting career at age 7 as a Tiger Cub with Pack 231 in Vail. He was a Cub Scout for four years, earned the Arrow of Light Award, and crossed over into Boy Scouts in 1996. As a Scout with Troop 231, Bailey attended Camp Mini Point in Minnesota and Camp Chris Dobbins in Colorado.

In 1997, Bailey moved to Craig, transferred his Scout membership to Troop 166, and attended Camp Ben Deletour in Colorado. The summer of 1999, Bailey and fellow Scouts attended the Northern Tier High Adventure Camp at Canoe Base. They drove to Bissett, Manitoba, Canada and then flew by float plane to a lake in the Canadian wilderness. They hiked and canoed for 10 days and earned the Fifty Miler Award for miles traveled afloat. Bailey was elected Senior Patrol Leader in 2000.

Last summer, Bailey and 10 others from Troop 166 attended Argus High Sea Adventure camp in Southern California. The Scouts sailed the seas for five days on a WWII sailing ship called the Argus that was built in 1906. They also visited Universal Studios and attended a Jousting tournament at a Medieval Restaurant.
