Recreation sports in full swing

Basketball

Winter recreational intramural sports opened with a Craig Youth Basketball League game last Tuesday, Nov. 21. The league consist of 12 teams, made up up of fifth and sixth grade students boys play Tuesday and Thursday evenings while the girls play Monday and Wednesday evenings. Both teams will play all their games at the Craig Intermediate School gym.

The third and fourth grade boys and girls have 16 teams, the boys play Tuesday and Thursday evenings while the girls play Monday and Wednesday evenings. Both teams will play all their games at Sunset Elementary School gym

Volleyball

The co-ed adult volleyball teams begin their season Tuesday, after Opening night was postponed the previous Tuesday evening. This is a semi-competitive league. Each team has between six-eight players and only four men are allowed to play on the court. Eight teams have signed upand the season runs from to Jan. 10. The tournament will begin on Jan. 16.

The fall co-ed adult volleyball teams ended their regular season Nov. 7, with an exciting two-day tournament Nov. 13-14 at the Craig Middle School gym.

Code 3, a group of police officers, captured the tournament, beating the regular season champs, Horses Etc. The winners received T-shirts and pats on the backs from each other.

"It was a great season," said Pam Brethauer, "We had more new teams in the semi-competitive league than in a while."

Ski Club

The ski club will have amandatory meeting Wednesday, at 6:30 at the Craig Middle School auditorium. Every member is required to attend and children under the age of nineteen must be accompanied by a parent. Anyone who misses the meeting will have their $10 enrollment fee refunded and dropped from the club. For additional information contact the Craig Parks and Recreation, 824-8151 ex 329

Sign up time

The sign up deadline for kindergarten-second grade basketball league is Jan. 3. The season starts Feb. 12 -April 12 check on fees

If you missed the fall volleyball season, there will be spring co-ed volleyball semi-competitive and competitive leagues starting Feb. 20. The deadline for sign up will be the end the first week in February.

Hockey Leagues

The women Hockey league has their first game Dec,17 against Steamboat at Loudy-Simpsons ice arena.

The Red Dogs will host a three day tournament Dec. 8, 9, 10 at Loudy-Simpsons ice arena.

The arena is open to the public every afternoon from 1:00- 2:30 and from 2:45.
