Cousins Chad and Blaine Zulian got a chance to perform at home for the first this season during a Rocky Mountain Motocross Association race at the track south of Craig.
Chad finished first in the open 16- to 24-year-old race, while taking fourth in the 125 pro class and the 250 pro class.
"Today, (Sunday) I thought that I wasn't going to be able to keep up with the other pro riders," said Chad. "I was able to keep the same pace with them."
Blaine finished second in the 125 amateur race and in the schoolboy race (16-and-under).
"I would like to get into some bigger races and be in the front a little bit more," said Blaine. "One of my goals is to get up and race with Chad, because he is racing in the Pro Division. I race about three times a week after school."
Chad, 19, competes in the pro division, while Blaine, 15, races in the amateur division.
"This is my 11th year racing," said Chad. "The other racers that I race against have been doing it since I started. It is weird riding with them, but I feel that I am doing all right.
"The other racers in amateur are 19 and 20 years old," said Blaine. "I think that there is one 16-year-old."
"I try to practice a couple of times a week and then I race every weekend. We race all over the state of Colorado. In the summertime, I will try to race in Washington and Montana. So far this season, I could be doing better, I need to be training more," he said.
Chad, who finished his freshman year at University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, said he'll have more time to train, now that school is over. "Hopefully, I will be able to get better," said Chad.
Chad has some goals in mind.
"I would like to do some for the TV national races," he said. "At least go and try a couple of those and see how that goes."
