Local students receive degrees


Three students from Craig were among 4,089 students who received degrees May 12, in the first commencement ceremony of the century at the University of Colorado at Boulder. The ceremony focused on the significant role CU-Boulder has played in the exploration of space over the past 50 years by honoring several alumni.
Astronauts Scott Carpenter and George "Pinky" Nelson gave the commencement address.
The three students were:
Ryan Reed Slingerland received a bachelor of science degree in business finance.
Alan Mica Bishop received a bachelor's degree in communications.
John Chester Mattingly received a bachelor's degree in environmental science.
