John P. Hillewaert
John P. Hillewaert of Craig, Colo., died Feb. 27, 2000, at his home. He was 77.
On Feb. 25, 1923, in Craig, he was born the son of Leo and Elisa Hillewaert. He was raised on a ranch north of Craig and attended country schools.
On Nov. 10, 1951, in Craig, he married Mary Lou Wilson. He was a rancher most of his life.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Beverly (Bobby) Williamson of Castle Rock, Colo.; sons, Leon (Brenda) Hillewaert of Ridgecrest, Calif., John (Joan) Hillewaert of Craig, Anthony (Lisa) Hillewaert of Craig, Jeffrey Hillewaert of Craig, William L. Hillewaert of Denver and Ray (Robin) Hillewaert of Grand Junction, Colo.; sister, Mary (John) Vyvey of Encampment, Wyo.; brother, Harry Hillewaert of Delta, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Frank and Alfonso.
Services were held with Mass of Christian Burial March 1 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Craig.
Pallbearers were: Wade Robinson, Ivan Kawack, Walt Cisar, Junior Kawack, Cal Howe and Kenny Kawcak.
Honorary pallbearers were: Eric Hillewaert, Ben Hillewaert, Tyler Mortensen, Paul Kawcak, Zach Hillewaert, Ryan Hillewaert, Keith Haskins, Joe Balleck, Mike Pappalardo, Tony Hillewaert, Malcom Hillewaert, Mike Kawcak and Tony Balleck.
Interment was at Craig Cemetery.
Jan Herman Phillips
Jan Herman Phillips of Montrose, Colo., died March 1, 2000. He was 40.
On Dec. 16, 1959, in Lincoln, Neb., he was born the son of Veldon and Marilynn (Rasmussen) Phillips. He moved with his family to Montrose when he was 5 years old.
He is survived by his parents, Veldon Phillips of Loveland, Colo., and Marilynn and stepfather, Tom English, of Montrose; son, Denny Phillips and daughter, Lacey "Princess" Phillips of Montrose; brother, Kyle (Jennie) Phillips of Montrose; sisters, Robyn (Greg) Hartung of Herman, Neb., Kim (Mark) Witt of Pierce City, Neb., Shawn (Gary) Linsacum of Craig, Colo., and Dawn (Keith) Roberts of Colona, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and brother, Darcy Phillips.
Memorial services were held March 4 at Montrose Christian Church. Services were concluded at the church.
