The owner has changed but the tradition of excellent animal care remains the same at McCandless Animal Hospital.
Dr. Neil McCandless passed the torch of his fine, upstanding animal hospital to Dr. Kelly Hepworth last October.
Although McCandless is no longer in command, he still plays a role at the hospital making sure the transition has been a smooth one.
"It is every bit of the quality practice that it was before," Hepworth said. "I want people to remain confident that we are going to continue the quality care that the clinic has built its reputation on and eventually even add some tools and expand. It will allow us to provide even better care for small and large animals."
Hepworth grew up in Laramie, Wyo. The Hepworth family has a long history in Craig his grandparents were school teachers here and he enjoys raising his family in northwest Colorado.
"I've always thought that if I ever lived in Colorado for an extended period of time, this would be the spot," Hepworth said.
Hepworth's educational background includes a wide array of animal-related subjects, including range management, wildlife habitat and, of course, veterinary medicine. In addition, his father had a career in wildlife management.
"My whole life has been animal related," said Hepworth.
The competent and knowledgeable staff of McCandless Animal Hospital has remained the same and Hepworth looks forward to working with them in the future.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity that I have here," said Hepworth. "Neil has helped me to become familiar with our clients and I want to continue to work hard and carry on the outstanding tradition that he has built."
