Colorado Division of Wildlife officials are awaiting ballistics tests to sort out what happened during a Nov. 30 elk poaching incident seven miles north of Craig.
According to Mike Bauman, district wildlife manager for the Division of Wildlife (DOW), the incident is still under investigation.
"Lab results from CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigation) are still pending and we are waiting until we get the results before any charges are filed," said Bauman.
Bauman is not sure when the CBI ballistic tests will be finished.
"It is entirely dependent upon their schedule," said Bauman.
The investigation centers around the possible illegal killing of up to 14 elk. The DOW has collected evidence at the scene and conducted interviews with people connected with the killings. Once charges are filed and tickets have been issued to anyone involved, the names of those individuals will be released to the public and the press, according to the DOW.
