The challenge of getting the schools ready for returning students later this month became even greater Friday morning when maintenance crews discovered that Moffat County High School and Sunset Elementary were both vandalized overnight.
An investigation by the Craig Police Department found extensive damage to windows, doors, computer and lab equipment, lighting fixtures, trophy and display cases and soda machines. Offices were also vandalized, and a large aquarium was destroyed killing several tropical fish.
There are similarities between these crimes and the vandalism committed at Craig Middle School in July. While no dollar figure has yet been established, school officials expect the cost to recover from the damage to be very high.
The police department and Moffat County School District are asking Craig residents for information that could help apprehend the criminals responsible for these crimes.
