Tracksters compete out of state

The Bulldogs varsity track teams took a team of mostly underclassmen to the Rawlins, Wyo., Invitational Tuesday and came away with two first-place,individual finishes.
For the girls team, Kallie Murphy, a freshman, paced the squad with first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.94 and second place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 53.70. No team scores were kept at the meet.
Mellisa Cromer, a junior, took home the top spot in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 53.50 and finished second in the 100-meter hurdles at 19.93.
"It was good to see Kallie and Mellisa at the top of the meet," said girls coach Lindsey Carl.
"The hurdlers had one of the best performances of all the athletes at the meet.
"It was good to see the girls out there competing. There wasn't that many teams out there and they performed well."

In the high jump, Aubrey Ripsoki, a freshman, finished in second place with a jump of 4-6 and the 4x100-meter relay team made up of freshman Janie Dunckley, freshman Megan Armstrong, Murphy and freshman Ashley Bishop crossed the line in second place with a time of 55.29.
"We had our young kids there and they held their own with the older girls," said Carl.
The boys team was led by Chad Hettinger, a junior, who finished in second place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.26 and the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.52.
"On the boys team we took mainly freshman and sophomores and only a had couple of juniors," said boys coach Gary Tague. "It was windy and some of those times reflected a head wind, but the kids did an outstanding job and they had fun. It was a good meet for them."
Other second-place finishes were by sophomore Jordan Ferrell in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 17.75 and sophomore Colton Grinolds in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:39.

The track teams will run in the North Park Invitational at 2 p.m. today at the high school track.
