Area cooks have been a "buzzin" about the "Taste of Home Cooking School" for weeks now, and final preparations are now in order for the event Monday at the Moffat County High School.
"We're expecting a big crowd, so I'd advise people to show up early," said Charlene McGilton, of the Craig Daily Press, the sponsor of the event. The cooking school is associated with three national magazines, Taste of Home, Country Woman and Quick Cooking.
"Those who are on hand are going to greatly enjoy this show. Anyone who cooks should be there. Not only are they going to learn what's new in food products and recipe preparation, they're going to have a lot of fun, too," McGilton said.
Part of the fun is the large number of prizes that will be given out during the program. Every attendee will receive a free cookbook, plus a free "gift bag" with valuable coupons supplied by national and local sponsors.
The Taste of Home Cooking School, conducted by Home Economist Katie O'Rourke, of Greendale, Wisc., will include on-stage preparation of 10 recipes. She'll also highlight some of the latest kitchen equipment, food products and cooking techniques, as well as time-saving shortcuts.
Get your tickets early! Tickets are $5 each and are available at The Kitchen Ship, T&H Auto Parts, The Flower mine and the Craig Daily Press.
The doors open for the event at 5 p.m. Monday and the program begins at 7 p.m.
