Maybell tidbits


Results of the Maybell Christmas lighting contest are in. The first place winner went to Mic and Nancy O'Conor, second place to Gene and Pat Bittler and third place to Colleen Behrman. There were three honorable mentions: Bruce and Sherri Johnson, Michelle and Tracey and the Kinnets. The contest was judged Monday night. The judges, one from each organization in Maybell, had a real hard time picking the best. Everyone in Maybell did a fantastic job decorating. Thanks to Yampa Valley Electric Association for the donation of prizes.

The Maybell Rustlers 4-H Club wants to thank all locals who contributed to the food drive. The Rustlers, along with the Maybell Store, have been collecting food and donations. Thirty-four pounds of food and $120 was donated by Maybell locals. Thank you everyone. The Rustlers 4-H group will have its monthly meeting at 4 p.m. Jan. 7 at the community center. All 4-Hrs are encouraged to attend.

Maybell Library is winding down a very successful year. There have been many changes, rearranging, staff changes and hours, and all done in a positive way. Maybell Library would like to thank its volunteers from this past year. The library will be open 20 hours each week starting in January. Look for new, extended hours.

Maybell Community Church has heard wedding bells this last month. Linda and Jeffery Noshlenas were married Dec. 12, 1999, and Jennifer and Travis Brennan were married Dec. 14, 1999, in the church with a reception following at Maybell Restaurant.

Church services are Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. at Maybell Community Church. Sunday school for children is from 9:15 a.m. to 9:50 a.m.

Maybell Community Church was filled to capacity for Vern Scott's funeral services. Speakers were form the Odd Fellows Lodge and veterans of foreign wars. There was a music special by Dar Haskins. We extend our sincere condolences to Charlene and family.

The Maybell Parent Advisory Committee and Parent Teachers Association will have a meeting at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at the school. all Maybell school parents are encouraged to attend. The discussion will be regarding the up-coming ski trips and bingo.
