Maybell residents who will compete in the Christmas lighting contest should have their lights turned on and ready for judging Monday. The panel of judges includes a representative from various organizations in Maybell. The judges will drive from Ron Stoffle's corner through Sunbeam. There will be cash prizes courtesy of Yampa Valley Electric Association.

The Maybell school children put on a fantastic "Outlaw Christmas" play and concert for all to see Thursday. A big "thank you" to Sherri Johnson, the music director, and everyone else who helped with the production. Maybell students are out for Christmas vacation until Jan. 3. Have a great holiday season.

The Maybell Women's Club met Tuesday for its annual Christmas party. The secret pals were revealed and chosen for the next year. Thank you to Nancy O'Conor and Marla Stevenson for the fun and wacky games. All the many Christmas goodies were the highlight of the party. The next January meeting will be election of officers.

The Maybell Rustlers met Saturday in Craig. After bowling and dinner, the Rustlers shopped for seven children for Toys for Tots. Thank you to all who helped donate to the Toys for Tots program. The Maybell 4-Hers has a box set up in the Maybell Store for food donations for the food bank in Craig. All food or donations stay in Moffat County. Anyone who has food or other donations they would like picked up may call Lance Poole.

Commodities for Maybell residents will be distributed Tuesday. The meat includes some wild game. Commodities are available at Maybell Community Center.

Maybell Library reminds everyone the library will be closed Monday for a staff meeting in Craig. The library will be open Wednesday and closed again for the holiday on Friday.
The library has new Colorado statute books and everyone is invited to see the new western collection. Beginning in January, the library will hold informal computer classes. The classes will help familiarize people with computers. Call Becky at the library with any questions.
As a reminder, the Maybell Post Office, Maybell Store, Maybell Restaurant and Maybell Library will all be closed for Christmas. Have a safe holiday season.

Maybell lost a longtime resident this week. Vern Scott will be missed by many. Deepest sympathy to Charlene and the Scott family.
