Three arrested Friday for damage to vehicles

Tension was high over the weekend, high enough that several thousand dollars in damage was done to three vehicles, the result of what police believe was a nasty exchange of words.

The vehicles were damaged in two different incidents and three people were arrested.

Levi James Chadd, 18, was arrested and a 15-year-old male juvenile was arrested and released Friday night after police received a call reporting violent acts in the parking lot of City Market grocery store.

The two males were reported getting out of a black Chevrolet with baseball bats and used them to hit a second car with a teen-ager inside. The victim was taken to The Memorial Hospital and treated for bruises to his right elbow and hand.

Police were able to find the participants because the person who reported the crime took down the license plate numbers of the vehicles.

Chadd and the juvenile were arrested for aggravated assault with a weapon, damage to property and crimes against a person. Chadd was also arrested for contempt of court.

In a second, possibly related incident, Fawn Marissa Melquist, 21, was arrested for damage to property and trespassing after it was reported she was breaking windows of two vehicles on Breeze Street. Police believe a dog leash with a metal latch was used to break the windows.

After getting a call that a family member had been in a fight, Melquist left her job at the Golden Cavvy to find him. After she was seen breaking vehicle windows, she allegedly ran and reappeared at the Golden Cavvy where she was arrested.

Both events occurred minutes apart and the victim in the first crime was related to the suspect in the second; one of the victims in the second crime was related to a suspect in the first crime.
